Drip irrigation planning, how much tubing do you need?

I’m finally switching from hand watering to drip, and the parts list is confusing. Between mainline, quarter-inch tubing, emitters, connectors, and fittings, I couldn’t tell what a basic setup should include. I didn’t want to place three orders.

Before ordering, I used the drip irrigation calculator on Gardenvoila to estimate tubing length and emitter count for my rows. It helped me avoid the classic mistake of buying too little line. I added a few extra feet just in case.

For those who’ve installed drip, what did you wish you’d known? Pressure regulators and filters seem important, but I’d love to hear what you actually ended up using, and whether a simple timer was enough.
